Wear a Mask!

Gov Scott Announces New Mask Requirements

Effective August 1, wearing masks or cloth facial coverings is mandatory in Vermont, with limited exceptions, in public settings where 6 feet of space between people is not possible. This requirement applies to everyone over the age of 2 years, except when eating, drinking, exercising or participating in strenuous activity. Those with medical reasons for not wearing a mask will be exempt; no written documentation will be required in order to preserve individuals’ medical privacy.

Businesses and other entities may post signage explaining their mask requirements. In addition, they may require customers to wear masks, and can deny entry or service to those who decline to wear one.

“Based on national and regional data on how the virus is spreading – and rather than
waiting, like other states have – I feel we need to act now to protect our gains,” Gov. Scott
said.
